Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has had his personality questioned by a handful of former teammates, mostly due to his ‘win at all cost’ mentality which can rub some the wrong way. But outside of that, Bryant, who’s a bit reserved in the public eye is rumored to be quite the amusing jokester.
Case in point? CBS’s Ken Berger was speaking with Billy Hunter, the former executive director of the National Basketball Players Association who recounted a phone call he had with Bryant during the 2011 NBA lockout. Or should I say, ‘Black Mamba’?
I’ll let Hunter explain:
“Late in the evening before the Waldorf Astoria meeting, I was already in bed for the night when my phone rang,” Hunter wrote in the court filing. “The caller identified himself as the ‘Black Mamba.’ I knew it was Kobe Bryant, a superstar player for the Los Angeles Lakers and the highest paid player in the NBA.”
Hilarious. Sounds like something out of a secret mission.
‘Hello – this is the Black Mamba’.
