New York Mets sign outfielder Chris Young

Well, the New York Mets wanted an outfielder who can provide some power in the batters box and they got their man.

Former Arizona Diamondback and Oakland Athletic Chris Young is going to do some great things with this ball club. He may not be the biggest guy in the league or on the roster, but if this man connects cleanly, he can drive a ball 400+ feet.

Now according to Jon Heyman on Twitter, the deal that was agree’d on is just a one year contract and a physical is pending. Which is pretty obvious, standard procedure so I don’t see why anything would stop this deal from being official. Young will receive $7.25 million for the year, which is a solid amount for just one season.

Right now this is just a test drive but if he hits at least 12 or more home runs, this ball club is going to want to lock him in long term. He’s a three time 20/20 player and averages 18 home runs and 56 RBI’s a season.

I’ve always been a fan of Chris Young, so I’m pretty excited to see him becoming a big piece of a franchise once again.
