Report: Daryl Morey requested a trade for Dirk as a taunt

My main man Mike Dyce told you earlier that the Rockets’ GM Daryl Morey asked Mark Cuban for a trade for Dirk Nowitzki after Houston had signed Dwight Howard. Apparently, he had no real interest in Dirk, but it was more of a slap in the face, according to ESPN Dallas:

So, Daryl Morey is clever. He is an intellectual guy that is fun to interact with, and it seems as if he was trying to get the best of the Mavericks’ owner. Dirk will end his career in Dallas, so the trade would have never happened even if it was a serious request.

Both the Mavericks and Rockets met with Howard during his free agency, and the Rockets won the battle. There was another battle on Thursday night, and this one went to Cuban. The Mavericks erased a 14 point lead to come back and beat the Rockets, and Cuban was vindicated for a game. He said, “Payback’s a bitch.”

It looks like this rivalry is becoming Texas-sized.
