UFC veteran Thiago Silva will have to wait until next year to continue his winning streak.
UFC officials announced that Silva has pulled out his scheduled match against Ovince St. Preux Officials did not disclose the reason why Silva was removed from the fight. The two were scheduled to face off in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 35, Jan. 15 2014.
Silva is riding a two-fight winning streak over Matt Hamill and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante. Before those fights he had a four-fight skid that included two losses and two No Contests due to failed drug tests.
As for St. Preux, he has won his last three fights, including two knockouts over Cody Donovan and T.J. Cook. He had an impressive run in Strikeforce prior to his debut in the UFC.
The UFC is currently searching for a new co-main event at this time. Hopefully St. Preux can get a replacement opponent for this event or for a different fight card early in the year.
