Isaiah Lewis ejected for targeting (Video and GIF)

Michigan State safety Isaiah Lewis has been ejected early in the game against Northwestern for a targeting penalty. The call comes less than 5 minutes into the game.

Lewis hit Kain Colter seemingly legally. Colter had gotten incredibly low to the ground when Lewis hit him, and Lewis clearly tried to go low as well. It is almost like a batter who squats to shorten his strike zone, Colter didn’t give Lewis much of an area to aim for. That doesn’t mean Colter is anyway responsible or at fault, just possibly Lewis shouldn’t have been ejected.
