According to Matt Eddy on Twitter, right handed relief pitcher Guillermo Moscoso has elected to test the free agency market.
Earlier in the year, Moscoso stepped in to start for veteran pitcher Barry Zito after he was moved back to the bullpen. The 30 year old right hander was designated for assignment on Wednesday and shut down any Minor League assignments.
So now that he’s a free agent, the Colorado Rockies who are clearly interested in adding to their bullpen will give this man a call. He appeared in 13 games with the Giants this year and posted a 5.10 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP and a 31.21 K/BB ratio over 30 innings of work.
His ability to both start and pitch out of the bullpen will surely benefit him. The Minnesota Twins could be another team interested with them looking to add to their rotation. Minnesota and Colorado would give him the best chance at making the Major League roster instead of being sent to the Minors.
It’ll be interesting to see if they actually contact him.
