Steve Nash shuts down retirement rumors
By Josh Sanchez
Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash has been dealing with back issues all season that have limited to just six games on the court, which immediately led to some speculation and rumors that Nash could be contemplating shutting himself down this season and hanging up his shoes.
Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni had previously denied the rumors and now Nash is doing the same.
From the Los Angeles Times:
"“No, not at all,” Nash said Friday of rumors he is considering calling it a career long before his contract expires at the end of next season. “I don’t know where that came from.“For me, I realize I have about 18 months left of basketball and I want the most out of this that I can possibly get and I don’t know if that’s going to be one game or the vast majority of what’s left, but I have a long life without basketball, so I don’t want to give in too soon. I want to try to make the most of this opportunity to play if I can.”"
Nash did say that he doesn’t plan on rushing his return, but he has no desire to call it a career.
Lakers fans may not be too upset to say good bye to Nash, but they will have to deal with him until his contract expires.
