No. 23 USC beat Colorado 47-29 at Folsom Field in Boulder, CO. USC improved to 9-3 (6-2 Pac-12), and Colorado fell to 4-7 (1-7 Pac-12).
Both teams got off to slow starts in the first quarter. At 5:34, USC scored first on a Javorius “Buck” Allen 12-yard touchdown run. At 1:04, the Trojans scored a safety, and the first quarter ended with USC up 9-0.
The second quarter was all USC as well. Colorado QB Sefo Liufau had a rough second quarter including a fumble deep in his own territory, and an interception by Trojan safety Dion Bailey. Both turnovers led to USC touchdowns. At halftime, the Trojans led 23-0, and were in complete control of the game.
Colorado scored quickly to begin the third quarter off a fumble recovery by defensive back Jered Bell. The rest of the third belonged to USC after two more touchdowns including Buck Allen’s third TD run. At 7:19 in the third, the score was 37-7, and the Trojans seemed to be cruising to a victory.
Colorado fought back in the fourth scoring three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. USC hit a field goal, but with 3:19 left in the game, USC led 40-29 with the momentum in Colorado’s favor. At 3:19, Colorado attempted an onside kick, but the Trojans recovered the ball on the Colorado 49. At 2:19, the Trojans scored on a 52-yard TD run by Soma Vainuku. Vainuku’s rushing TD put the Trojans ahead 47-29, and closed out Colorado’s comeback bid.

Next week, USC will play No. 14 UCLA at home, and Colorado will travel to Utah.
