The Indianapolis Colts travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals, who are challenging for a Wild Card berth with their 6-3 record. The Colts and Cardinals game has an interesting story line, current Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians served as interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 while Chuck Pagano underwent treatment for leukemia.

“The prep will be easy,” Arians told the Cardinals’ official website, via ESPN. “It’s seeing them that will be emotionally involved because it was such an emotional year last year. You’ll get through that hopefully in warmups.

“I was hoping this would never be on the schedule. Because there are too many emotional ties to what happened last year.”

Pagano expressed his gratitude for what Arians did in his absence. He also said that his success in Arizona isn’t a surprise given what did with the Colts.

“Just look what he did a year ago, so why would anybody be surprised,” Pagano said. “We all know that he’s a (darn) good football coach.

“I think our guys are excited to play the Cardinals. It’s going to be a tough one. He’s got a really good football team, solid in all three phases and well-coached. It will be a great challenge for our team.”
