With just minutes left in the third quarter, Blazers center Joel Freeland was elbowed by Warriors big man Andrew Bogut, which clearly didn’t sit well. That escalated into a shoving match and both teams rushed into the ruckus, pushing and shoving before referees seemingly calmed things down momentarily.
The calm was short lived though as the pushing and shoving made its way towards the Warriors bench where injured center Jermaine O’Neal decided to join the fray.
As can be seen in the video below, members of the Warriors staff attempted to keep O’Neal and other bench players on the sideline in hopes of avoiding a suspension but when Blazers point guard Mo Williams walked towards O’Neal, he was greeted with a quick hand to the neck which re-kindled the flared tempers.
Thankfully nothing got too out of hand as things could have quickly escalated.
