The New England Patriots defense is likely to take another big hit on Sunday with the news that starting linebacker Brandon Spikes has been downgraded to questionable for the team’s Sunday night meeting with the Denver Broncos.

New England is already without starting defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and linebacker Jerod Mayo, so losing Spikes would just be the latest hit.

There is still a hope that Spikes could return to the line up, but it isn’t looking good. When you are downgraded on the day of the game it is unlikely that you will be able to suit up.

Without three of their top defenders, the Broncos offense could have a field day — specifically running back Knowshon Moreno.

Spikes and Wilfork are the New England Patriots top defenders against the run, so there will be plenty of running room without the men in the line up.

Denver vs. New England will take place in prime time on NBC, so be sure to tune in to the action to see how the action will play out.
