Ian Kinsler: Rangers 'let one slip through our fingers'

The Texas Rangers sent second baseman Ian Kinsler to Detroit for first baseman Prince Fielder. Kinsler has been through a lot with the Rangers. His first three season in Texas they finished with sub-.500 records. He watched the Rangers turn it around and win two American League Championships.

They never won the World Series, but they came especially close against the St. Louis Cardinals when they let the come back twice in Game Six.

“For me to have come where I come from,” said Kinsler, according to John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press, “an organization that has never won a ring — and getting so close — and obviously it is well known that the Tigers have the approach of winning a championship right now — that means Detroit is the perfect place for me.

“I feel we let one slip through our fingers in Texas. The Tigers feel the same somewhat. We’re going to all come together and get it done. It is going to be lot of fun. I am proud to be part of it. I am happy to throw myself in with the Tigers.”

Kinsler is joining a quality Tigers team that lost in the Boston Red Sox.
