Seahawks CB Brandon Browner suspended 1 year for violating NFL’s substance abuse policy

The Seattle Seahawks got a whole bunch of bad news the past two days. First it was Walter Thurmond getting a four-game suspension for Marijuana, then the news got worse.

Brandon Browner, another cornerstone of the Legion of Boom, has now been suspended a year for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Thanks to Adam Schefter we also know that Browner has appealed.

It’s unclear whether or not this incident is related to the Thurmond incident but the chances are definitely pretty good. In fact a friend (and avid 12th Man affiliate) just mentioned this to me, “why is it that I picture The Legion of Boom passing a bong around?”

It’s going to get very interesting as the Playoffs draw nearer. Seattle right now is like the NFL’s “bad boys” and it seems they are being made an example of.

I gotta agree. If he was caught on a PT and they found MJ (which is more than likely given any down time in Seattle) there’s no question he does not deserve a one year ban. The NFL ain’t happy about Seattles greenery that’s for sure

So does that mean like a full 365 days from now or just until this season is over?

Full year and, if true and not successfully appealed, it will end his career in Seattle.

Being punished for MJ use on your own time is ridiculous. He lives in WA!! Cannabis is legal here!!!

    • skeletony

Exactly. If a player had a beer no one would say anything but he takes a hit off a joint and he must be punished?

the greatest plant in the universe is almost free, LET FREEDOM RING!!!

it’s legal in Seattle and Colorado!!! lol, time for the NFL to have their business licenses suspended in the 2 legal states and 20 something other medically legal states until they enact a policy change…..STATES RIGHTS!!!! Sue Their A$$e$!!!
