We may be quite a while from the official release of the newest addition to the Transformers franchise; however, that doesn’t mean that you have to wait until July to get a look at the leader of the Autobots. On January’s cover of Empire Magazine, we get our first look at some photos from the set, and more importantly, our first look at Optimus Prime.
Transformers: Age of Extinction will pick up four years after the invasion of Chicago that happened in Dark of the Moon. It will follow the lives of Cade, who is being portrayed in the film by Mark Wahlberg, and his daughter Tessa, who is being played by Bates Motel’s Nicola Peltz.
Cade is a both a single father and a mechanic, and when he and his daughter Tessa make a discovery, it will bring both the Autobots and Decepticons, as well as a paranoid government official, crashing down on them.
This will be the first Transformers film that does not include Shia LeBeouf in a main role. For the most part, this is an entirely new cast.
Like its predecessors, Michael Bay is returning to direct while Steven Spielberg is returning as an Executive Producer.
Ehren Kruger, who wrote both Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon is writing the screenplay for Age of Extinction.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is scheduled to be released on June 27, 2014.
