When the North Carolina Tar Heels hold Senior Day on Saturday against the Duke Blue Devils, junior tight end Eric Ebron will be honored in his last home game with the team.
Sure, Ebron is not a senior, but he will not be returning to the Tar Heels next season after letting the North Carolina coaching staff know that he plans to forego his final year of eligibility to enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora made the announcement on Monday morning, via Laura Keeley of the Raleigh News & Observer and Charlotte Observer.
Ebron is an incredible athlete that brings the rare size/speed combination that teams around the league will be looking for. Add in the fact that Ebron is both an impressive receiver and willing blocker, and he could be selected as high as Day 2.
By making his decision public with some games left in the season, Ebron will have plenty of time to prepare himself for the pre-draft workouts and meetings so that he can make the best possible impression on the scouts.
