2013 Heisman Watch: Jordan Lynch breaks rushing record again in win over Western Michigan

Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch found himself in a great position tonight against Western Michigan to once again thrust himself into serious Heisman consideration. With Johnny Manziel’s poor performance this past weekend against LSU, Jameis Winston’s alleged legal issues and not a lot of people putting stock into AJ McCarron because of his non-flashy stats, Lynch had the opportunity on the national stage again to prove his worth.

He certainly made the most of that opportunity.

In the 33-14 win over Western Michigan–pushing the Huskies to 12-0– on Wednesday, Lynch broke one of his own records that he previously set this season.

The versatile Lynch rushed for a mind-blowing 321 yards against Western Michigan on Wednesday night, topping his 314 from earlier this season against Central Michigan. Three of the runs were touchdowns.

It appears as if the Huskies are headed back to a BCS bowl, especially considering their latest position in the BCS standings and their win tonight to keep them unbeaten.

But, they’ve done that once before. Can they now send one of their own to New York for the Heisman ceremony?
