Browns claim TE Andre Smith off of waivers from Cowboys

The Cleveland Browns decided to claim former Dallas Cowboys tight end, Andre Smith , the same day they claimed quarterback Alex Tanney from their practice squad.  Smith is a third year tight end from Savannah State good size and strength at 6’5″ 270lbs.  The Browns have nothing but questions at tight end behind Jordan Cameron and are looking to see if they can find a body worth holding onto for the future.  Smith also spent time on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts before he ended up in Dallas.

The Browns waived offensive lineman Patrick Lewis among their vault full of backup linemen as well as wide receiver Brian Tyms to make the room for both Tanney and Smith.  The Browns have been extremely active with the bottom of their roster and trying to constantly move players and try to find players that could be valuable down the road.  Now at 4-7, the Browns’ playoff hopes appear to be shot, but they are still working to evaluate and evolve their roster as they prepare to go into an extremely important offseason.  They play the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
