Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski had said that the team would be looking to sign a quarterback this week after watching Jason Campbell go down with a concussion during the team’s Week 12 loss to the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
With Campbell recovering from the concussion and set to go through the league mandated concussion protocol before he can recover, the team is in need of signing a back up for former first-round pick Brandon Weeden.
The team brought in Caleb Hanie for a work out on Tuesday, but it looks like they went another direction with their signing.
Tanney, who has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and was previously on the Dallas Cowboys quarterback squad, announced on Twitter that he has signed with the Browns.
Thankful for everything the Jones family and Dallas staff has done for me. Great organization. New chapter starts in Cleveland today #Browns

If you don’t remember who Tanney is, he is the quarterback that garnered attention as an undrafted free agent after releasing a ridiculous trick shot video.
