When Memphis Grizzlies big man Marc Gasol went down with a non-contact knee injury last week, everybody know the diagnosis would not be good. And it wasn’t as Gasol was told he sprained his MCL. It’s an injury that takes weeks to recover, though, the team didn’t give Gasol a potential return date when they announced the injury, leaving it to speculation.
Other players who have suffered similar injuries have missed around a month and a half of action, which apparently is the low-end of Gasol’s expected return date according to the Memphis Flyer who cites estimates that Gasol will likely miss 6 to 10 weeks:
The Grizzlies came out playing to win, even though they’re going to be missing Marc Gasol for quite a while (estimates floating around mostly say 6-10 weeks).
It’s a hefty blow to the Grizzlies, though, the team still has a talented enough roster to fight through the injury and make the postseason, despite likely dropping a few seeds.
Gasol should return sometime in January or February, barring any significant setbacks.
