MLB rumors: Colorado Rockies reportedly make Dexter Fowler available for trade

It’s been an active day for the Colorado Rockies, who in addition to setting their sights on free agent first baseman Justin Morneau have apparently made center fielder Dexter Fowler available for trade, this according to the Denver Post:

The Rockies main trade piece is center fielder Dexter Fowler, who could be a fit in Kansas City. Opposing executives have said for weeks that the Rockies are open to trading Fowler. The Rockies have already talked with Carlos Gonzalez about playing center field if necessary.

Fowler was thought to be the Rockies center fielder of the future just a few short seasons ago, but a lack of progression in addition to injury concerns and a looming contract apparently has the team open to trading the speedy outfielder.

In addition to making Fowler available, the Rockies also reportedly contacted the Kansas City Royals about a trade for relievers, though, nothing has come of the talks – at least not yet.

The Royals reportedly made Aaron Crow and Tim Collins available in recent weeks, which intrigued the Rockies who are seemingly always in need of bullpen assistance.
