With the Civil War against the Oregon State Beavers only a few days away, the Oregon Ducks received some good news about starting defensive tackle Wade Keliikipi on Tuesday. Keliikipi left last Saturday’s game against the Arizona Wildcats after the first series due to an undisclosed injury, but the 6-foot-3, 299-pound senior has confirmed that he’ll be on the field for the rivalry game against the hated Beavers.
While Oregon State certainly doesn’t have a rushing attack similar to Arizona’s — the Beavers rank 122nd in the country in rushing yards per game — Keliikipi’s presence on the field will be vital if the Ducks want to put pressure on Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion. Mannion started off 2013 on an absolute tear, but his numbers have tapered off over the past few games. Mannion had 30 touchdown passes and only three interceptions after the first two months of the season, but he’s thrown only four touchdowns to a woeful 10 interceptions in the month of November.
