After a report from Chris Broussard from ESPN that the Cleveland Cavs were shopping guard Dion Waiters and that Waiters would accept a trade, the Cavs have come out and said they are not shopping Waiters. They did say they have received inquiries into the avaibility of Waiters, which could explain where the names of the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls came from that Broussard mentioned.
All of this stems from the perceived issues between Waiters and other players on the Cavs that have been rumored to have happened. The Cavs have not played well early in the season, so speculation is rampant that they could make a move. The Cavs have nothing at small forward which could be what they are hoping to get in a deal that might involve Waiters.
Still, Waiters is only in his second year and while he can be incredibly inconsistent, especially when it comes to transition defense and playing off the ball, he has shown the ability to shoot threes and attack the basket off of the dribble. If they can get Waiters and Kyrie Irving to play well together, they could have an incredibly potent group. The Cavs prepare to play the Miami Heat in Cleveland tonight.
