After Ryan Mathews left the San Diego Chargers Week 12 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, it was reasonable to expect the running back would be unavailable for the foreseeable future.

The talented, though, inconsistent running back had re-aggravated a previous hamstring injury and considering how temperamental that injury can be, playing in Week 13 against the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t seem likely.

However, head coach Mike McCoy says Mathews does have a chance to play:

"McCoy said that all the players injured against Kansas City have a chance to play at home versus Cincinnati on Sunday. They include running back Ryan Mathews (hamstring), offensive lineman D.J. Fluker (knee), receiver Eddie Royal (chest), defensive back Darrell Stuckey (concussion) and defensive lineman Corey Liuget (leg)."

Both Ronnie Brown and Danny Woodhead have filled in for Mathews adequately and would continue to do so if the former Fresno State product is unable to go.

His status for Sunday’s game against the Bengals should be updated Wednesday afternoon.
