One year after leaving the infamous “butt fumble” game early and officially retiring from the role of Fireman Ed, Ed Anzalone is wanted back at MetLife Stadium. Newly acquired safety Ed Reed wants to see the Jets’ icon at Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

According to ESPN,

"“That guy with the hard hat on, is he still here?” Reed asked reporters Wednesday. “I have to meet him. What’s his name, Fireman Ed? I need him getting the whole stadium crunked.”Reed was told that Fireman Ed — a.k.a. Ed Anzalone — is retired.“He retired? We need to bring him out of retirement,” Reed said."

Who knows, maybe Fireman Ed might come out of “retirement” for this week’s game, after leaving last Thanksgiving. Regardless of if he’s there or not, Reed wants to get his first win of the season.

Yes, he is winless this season after winning the Super Bowl last season with the Baltimore Ravens.

"He went 0-7 with the Houston Texans, and now he’s 0-2 with the Jets. He managed to laugh about it.“It’s a team sport, I’m not playing this game by myself,” he said. “There aren’t 53 Ed Reeds [or] 46 Ed Reeds dressing out there on Sunday. That would be [an automatic] Super Bowl.”He was joking."
