It’s been said that a great coach never stops coaching. And while I’m not sure I’d put Kevin McHale in such rarefied air just yet, the Houston Rockets head coach had no intention of letting up during Houston’s 93-86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.
That was, until point guard Jeremy Lin had enough of his barking.
With the Grizzlies at the free throw line, McHale could be seen dishing out orders from the sideline. But with only 37 second left and an eight point lead (seven after the made free throw), point guard Jeremy Lin had enough and escorted his coach to the bench so he’d take a seat and stop with the micromanaging.
I guess Lin felt if the team couldn’t hold such a lead with half a minute of time left, they didn’t deserve the victory.
It was all in good fun as you can see both Lin and McHale having a chuckle over the situation. And Lin was right – the Rockets were able to hold on just fine.
