New York Islanders reveal Stadium Series sweater (Photos)

The New York Islanders have officially unveiled the sweater that they will be wearing during their Stadium Series contest later this season. While most teams have gone with a more retro look and feel when participating in outdoor games, the Islanders sport one of the more traditional sweaters on a nightly basis.

As such, they decided to revamp the threads to make them look more modern for the outdoor game.

All of New York’s players seem to dig the new sweaters as well.

John Tavares was the poster boy the Islanders rolled out to show off the slick new threads, and had this to say about the throw-forward concept, as per New York’s official website:

It’s sharp. It’s going more for the modern look, which I think is a great idea, especially with so many teams going back to the retro. We’re going to look good when we go out there.

Matt Martin chimed in with his review of the sweater as well:

I love the nameplates with the white on the back. Our gloves have a little bit of white on them. It’s awesome with the chrome. The logo and the colors are bold. It’s going be a great jersey and I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

Season ticket holders are able to get their hands on them right now, and the rest of the fanbase will be able to purchase one on Black Friday.
