Oregon Ducks‘ quarterback Marcus Mariota has been fighting through obvious pain in his left knee. Over the last three games, Mariota has rushed for just 18 yards on 18 carries. He clearly looked better in a 42-16 loss to the Arizona Wildcats this week (eight carries for 52 yards) than he did in a 26-20 loss to the Stanford Cardinal (six carries, -16 yards) and a 44-21 win over the Utah Utes (four carries, -18 yards).
However, Mariota suffered a new injury when he was trying to tackle Arizona’s Shaquille Richardson in the third quarter on what his second interception of the game (and of the season). Mariota told reporters he had his “bell rung” on the play.
Mariota wouldn’t describe either of his apparent injuries with any more detail and it is Oregon policy to not discuss injuries, so the school hasn’t elaborated either.
On the season, Mariota has completed 210-of-326 passes for 3,127 yards with 27 touchdowns and two interceptions. Mariota has also rushed for 529 yards and seven touchdowns on 74 attempts.
The Ducks will host the rival Oregon State Beavers at 7:00 pm EST and the game is on Fox Sports 1.
