While most athletes don’t take rankings or ‘top lists’ very seriously, the same can’t be said about Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant.
The Black Mamba, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers earlier this week took a shot at ESPN during the press conference announcing the new contract.
Bryant of course was ranked as the 25th best player in the NBA this season according to the Worldwide Leader, which obviously did not sit well with Kobe who mocked the ranking on his social media avatars.
Then, on Tuesday, took a shot at ESPN when asked a question about the point difference between himself and Kareem Abdual-Jabbar:
‘I don’t even know what I need to do for that, um (reporter says ‘six-thousand, seven hundred’). Six-thousand, seven hundred? But you’re with ESPN, so you’re probably wrong’.
Talk about an epic burn.
Kobe did apologize (with a giant smile) to who I can only assume to be Dave McMenamin, a Lakers beat writer for ESPN Los Angeles.
And they say Kobe doesn’t have a personality…
