Adam Scott leads Rory Mcllroy by two shots after two rounds of play at the Emirates Australian Open in Sydney, Australia.
Scott recovered from an early round double-bogey to shoot a two-under 70, and a combined two round total of 12-under par. Mcllroy carded a stellar seven-under 65 for a combined two round total of 10-under par.
Both Scott and Mcllroy have plenty to play for this weekend. Scott is going for the “Australian Triple Crown.” He has won the Australian Masters and the Australian PGA this year, and needs to win the Australian Open to capture the crown.
Mcllroy has played poorly for most of 2013, and is in the process of regaining his confidence. A win at the Australian Open may help prepare the 24-year old for a successful 2014 campaign.
Seeing Mcllroy and Scott play well in the down under is exciting news for the golfing world. Scott is beginning to realize his potential, and may challenge Tiger Woods for the world number one ranking in 2014. Mcllroy is a former world number one who has the talent to dominate the game. Let’s hope the great play continues over the final two rounds in Australia, and beyond.
