Shea Weber injury update
Shea Weber was hit the face with a puck yesterday during the second period when the Nashville Predators took on the Edmonton Oilers. He did not return following the incident and the team has listed him day-to-day following the injury. The play occurred with less than five minutes to go in the second period.
Shea Weber will not return – upper-body injury. #EDMvsNSH

The puck seemingly hit Weber around his right eye, but the team has not offered a more specific update except to say that he’s day-to-day. Weber does not wear a shield or mask of any kind to protect his face from these sorts of incidents.
Here’s a video replay.
Nashville can hardly afford to lose Weber for an extended amount of time. He’s the only defenseman in the NHL that is leading his team in goals with seven, and is tied for the league’s lead in that regard as well. The Preds have a hard time scoring goals as it is, so losing Weber from the blue line would be brutal.
It’s never good to see one of your players go down like this, but seeing your captain and leading scorer taken down by a stray puck is unfortunate to say the least. Nashville does not play this evening, but they do have a contest against the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow. It is unclear at this juncture whether or not Weber will be available.
Nashville’s Shea Weber left after a second-period injury and did not return. #Flyers play in Nashville Sat.
