LSU Tigers quarterback Zach Mettenberger was having a great season that could have resulted in a first-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, but unfortunately he suffered a left knee injury in the fourth quarter of the team’s regular season finale against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Mettenberger’s left knee, which was already banged up and protected by a heavy knee brace, bent awkwardly underneath the Arkansas defender and he immediately went down in obvious pain.
Mettenberger remained on the ground as the trainers came in to give him attention, before being helped off the field and unable to put any real weight on his injured left leg.
Here is a screen shot of the hit that bent Mettenberger’s knee in an awkward direction:
There has been no official word on the injury to Mettenberger, other than the fact that it was to his left knee.
Hopefully the injury will not affect his draft stock or ability to prepare during draft season.
We will provide more information as it comes available.
