The Baltimore Orioles have been searching for a cheap, offensively talented outfielder and they may have found one in Francisco Peguero. The 25-year-old Peguero was recently designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants and could potentially find himself playing for the other orange and black team, this according to Chris Cotillo:
San Francisco signed Peguero when he was just 16 and had hopes that he’d become a fixture of their future outfield, however Peguero could never string enough success together in the minor leagues until recently. Unfortunately for Peguero, San Francisco was in the thick of postseason runs and didn’t have available time for Peguero at the big league level.
The team gave the outfielder a shot this past season after putting up numbers in AAA-Fresno, but he struggled at the Major League level which lead to his release.
He’d likely provide organizational depth for the Orioles and would split time between AAA and Baltimore.
