San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is battling a hamstring injury and was limited in last week’s game. Gates is listed as probable for this Sunday’s match up and he might not be ready for a bigger load than what he saw last week.

“It’s tricky,” Gates said, via Union-Tribune San Diego. “It’s different. It’s one of those injuries where you can’t fully grasp whether or not you can do something because it’s all running. Everything is based off running and power and holding off people on blocks, and the hamstring is a big part of that. Without the lower body, you couldn’t play in this league. I’ll see how it goes. I’m going to attack this rehab. I’ve got two more days. That’s the best part about it.

“If I had to play [Friday], would I go or not? I’m not sure. But I can definitely give myself a couple days to see how I feel.”

While they don’t play till Sunday, feeling like you can’t go on Friday isn’t a good sign or promising. He was a full participant in practice on Friday.
