It was the first edition of the Palmetto Bowl to be played with both South Carolina and Clemson ranked in the top ten, but the end result was sickeningly familiar for Tigers fans. Thanks to a great performance from their defense and good game from quarterback Connor Shaw, the South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Clemson Tigers 31-17 on Saturday night. The victory marked the fifth consecutive win in the rivalry for the Gamecocks, setting a school record.

Shaw finished the game with 152 yards through the air and 94 yards on the ground, running for a touchdown in the first quarter and then tossing one to Shaq Roland in the second. In contrast, Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd finished the game with 225 yards through the air and two interceptions.
