Jessamyn Duke sets UFC record for most significant strikes by newcomer

On the main card of The Ultimate Fighter season 18 Finale, Team Rousey teammates Jessamyn Duke and Peggy Morgan faced off in a UFC women’s bantamweight bout. It was an incredible display by Duke as she showcased her crisp striking in her UFC debut, and her performance also marked an all-time best by a fighter making their UFC debut.

The UFC passed along the stats after her fight that showed us Jessamyn Duke landed a whopping 123 significant strikes on Morgan. The mark set a UFC record for a fighter making their promotional debut.

With the win, Duke advanced her record to 3-0 with one no contest.

While the striking was most impressive for Duke in her win, she showed some resilience after being caught in a bad position late in the fight. Morgan was able to take Duke’s back and threaten with a rear-naked choke attempt, but Duke survived, got back to her feet and went on to continue landing some crisp combinations.

To top off a great first night inside of the octagon, Duke won a $25,000 bonus for her part in the Fight of the Season on The Ultimate Fighter season 18 against Raquel Pennington.
