Saturday will mark coach John Tortorella’s first game back in Madison Square Garden after being fired by the New York Rangers back in May. He is visiting with his Vancouver Canucks. He made it obvious to everyone what he wanted to do in his old stomping grounds.
From ESPN New York,
“I am going to coach this game, hopefully kick their ass and get out of here,” he said before Saturday afternoon’s much-anticipated match up between the Vancouver Canucks and Rangers at MSG.
When asked about returning to New York, but with a different team, reporters were expecting Torts to answer bit differently.
“It’s weird,” he said of the feeling being back in such a familiar building, where he coached for more than four seasons. “But, the overriding emotion is of the Vancouver Canucks trying to find a way to win.”
Vancouver is 13-9-5 on the season so far, which puts them in 5th place in the Pacific Division.
How do you think Tortorella will be treated upon his return o the ice at MSG? Will he be cheered, or booed? Who do you think wins the game? Leave a comment below.
