Following the Auburn Tigers last second win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on a missed field goal return, we saw plenty of stunned reactions. No one was feeling the loss as much as the Alabama players, so naturally they needed some comfort.

Luckily for Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, Katherine Webb, his Auburn grad girlfriend, was there to offer him the comfort he needed.

Here is the loving couple after Alabama’s loss:

Let’s just hope she doesn’t pick up the phone and start texting Chris Davis. AJ would be crushed.

Ok, somebody please explain to me just what happened on the feild goal ….return? I have played FB for years and never new there was a rule where a man could be in the back field to possibly return a missed FG..or it it because there was 1 second left on the clock…if so, that bites…lol But hey, it worked~

Any missed field goal can be returned by the defense if it lands in the field of play. The rules on returning one are just the same as returning a punt–once the defense touches it beyond the line of scrimmage, it’s a live ball. It’s rarely done because a missed field goal is returned to the line of scrimmage if the defense chooses not to return it.

A famous example of this rule at work was when the Dallas Cowboys’ Leon Lett touched a partially blocked field goal at the end of a game and the other team was able to recover it, giving them another chance to win. If Lett hadn’t touched the ball, it wouldn’t have been live and able to be recovered by the offense.

John, thanks alot for clearing that up for me.After reading , it all started to makes sense…maybe it was just the timing, anticipation or the importance of the game that did’nt allow my thought process to process?..lol So, who are picking to win the championship?
