Friday was just a bad day all-around for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and their head coach, Bo Pelini. Already with some controversy surrounding him and potentially losing his job, Pelini and his team went out and got walloped by Iowa, 38-17.
Following the game, Pelini had some words with the reporters in his post-game presser:
In addition to that rant, Bo was also called for a penalty during the game for arguing with an official, and that’s putting it lightly.
Despite all of this, though, it seems as if the embattled coach still has the support of his athletic director, Shawn Eichorst.
Eichorst released a statement on Saturday in which he made it known that Pelini may not be going anywhere, regardless of what anyone thinks:
“My approach has always been to not comment publicly about our coaches until their full seasons are complete, as I strongly believe it is unfair and counter to best practices,” Eichorst said. “However, given the volume of unfounded speculation and conjecture about our head football coach, I want to reaffirm what I have said many times since I have arrived at the University of Nebraska — that I positively respect, appreciate and support our football student-athletes, coaches and staff, as we do everyone in the Husker family. We very much look forward to our upcoming bowl game and Coach Pelini continuing to lead our program in the future.”
