Just one week after being absolutely demolished by the Washington Huskies, the Oregon State Beavers matched the No. 13 Oregon Ducks blow for blow on Friday night.
Although Oregon escaped with the 36-35 win, Friday’s game was a performance the Beavers can (and should) be proud of. That’s the sentiment head coach Mike Riley expressed after the game, saying he was proud of the way his team and his staff responded after the debacle against the Huskies.
From The Oregonian:
I was totally devastated by [the Washington game]. I was disappointed in myself, in our staff, the team, and I thought it was absolutely essential that we come out and play good football and play hard. I told them, ‘Don’t even look at the scoreboard until the end, because we’ve got to play better, play with enthusiasm and passion.’
Now, at least we can all look in the mirror, and look at each other, and be proud of our team.
The Beavers, with a record of 6-6, will now wait to see if they’re selected to play in a bowl game.
