In another one of the rivalry games this weekend, the Clemson Tigers traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the hated South Carolina Gamecocks.

This game isn’t just significant for Clemson trying to stay in bowl contention, but it’s also significant because this will be Clemson QB Tajh Boyd’s last chance to defeat his team’s biggest rival. Of all he’s accomplished in his four-year career, he has yet to beat Steve Spurrier, Jadeveon Clowney and the Gamecocks.

Actually, a lot of focus has been put on the battles between Clowney and Boyd, as Clowney has usually made Tajh’s life a living hell.

But tonight, in what was a nice brief moment, both competitors showed respect for one another after a play:

Yes, some will point out that something like this happens a lot, but it’s still nice to see two competitors who have been giant fixtures in the college football landscape the last few seasons showing respect to one another.

No matter how bitter some of the rivalries get, there’s always that respect factor that still lives on.

    Love to see this.

Agreed. One thing I love about the recent history is that the rivalry has become much more civil off the field. Glad to see the respect on the field as well. As a lifelong Gamecock fan, I have nothing but the highest regard for Boyd’s talent, leadership, and class.

I as a lifelong Clemson fan feel the same way about Shaw. He is probably the most underrated QB in college football and he seems like a great guy as well. That kid plays with a lot of heart and determination.
