This Tweet says it all.

The shear excitement of an early-season upset in college hoops is always a pleasure, but when it comes from an unranked team topping the #2 team in the country, that makes it all the more special. Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono shot just 1 for 6 on the night, but his singular basket of the night came on a 3-pointer with just 10 seconds remaining that would give the Wildcats the victory. The big shot pushed ‘Nova to a 2-point lead, and when a 3-pointer from Kansas guard Frank Mason went begging, that was that.

In fairness to Kansas, they were “only” an 8.5-point favorite in this neutral site match-up, but it still has to sting to drop a game in this manner. All-World freshman Andrew Wiggins managed to tally just 10 points and 3 rebounds in the game, as the Jayhawks were held to 38.9% shooting from the field and 2 of 11 from the beyond the 3-point arc.

This wasn’t an aesthetically pleasing game (by any stretch), but the final score is all that matters if you are a Villanova supporter. On the Kansas side, this can simply be chalked up to an “off” night, and the incredibly talented Jayhawks will surely bounce back in short order.
