Charl Schwartzel completed his strong weekend at the Alfred Dunhill Championship with a four-under round of 68 on Sunday, securing a four-strike win over Richard Finch. The victory marks the second time in as many years, and the third time overall, that Schwartzel has won at Alfred Dunhill. He’s also finished as runner-up on four other occasions.
Finch, who was playing in the tournament on a sponsor’s invite after having lost his tour card last year, started his round with birdies at the first and third holes to eliminate Schwartzel’s overnight lead. But Finch faltered down the stretch, bogeying the eleventh hole and then scoring a double-bogey on the fourteenth.
Schwartzel compliment Finch, his player partner, after the round:
He got off to a fantastic start and mine was a little shaky. I know with this golf course out of experience that it’s a long way from over and you just have to keep hitting good shots (TSN).
Simon Dyson, Ross Fisher, and Romain Wattel all tied for third place.
