Early point spread released for projected Florida State vs. Ohio State championship match-up

The projected match-up for this season’s BCS National Championship game was set well before the actual release of the BCS Rankings on Sunday. Florida State and Ohio State are the only undefeated teams in the country after Alabama’s insane loss in Auburn on Saturday, and if they both hold serve, it’s a virtual certainty that they’ll square off for the title.

With that in mind, there is at least one Las Vegas sports book already taking action on that particular face-off:

At first glance, it seems (at least to me) as if Florida State is getting a lot of respect with a near double-digit spread (courtesy of RJ Bell of via ESPN’s Brett McMurphy), but public sentiment is also firmly against the Buckeyes after their narrow win against Michigan. The (obvious) X-factor would be the status of All-American QB Jameis Winston, but this spread clearly projects him as being available when the two teams would kick-off.

It’s important to note that this is exactly one property posting a spread on what is currently a fictional game, but it certainly tells us that the public believes Florida State is significantly better than Ohio State.
