Everyone was literally in shock one Saturday evening when the Auburn Tigers were able to take down the number one Alabama Crimson Tide in this year’s edition of the Iron Bowl.
The game indeed did live up to its expectations. Some anticipated this to be the most important game in the rivalry in its long history, and it was.
That was due all to the heroics of Auburn special teams player, Chris Davis, who took that Alabama missed field goal back 100 yards to send the Tiger to Atlanta and send Alabama home with no more hope of playing for their third consecutive national title.
When that play occurred, every college football fan who watched it unfold live went absolutely berserk, and rightfully so. That play will live on in the annals of college football history forever, and some are even calling it the greatest finish there has ever been.
So, you can only imagine how Auburn fans around the country felt at the moment it occurred.
