As a basketball player, you generally have two on-court fears. One, you don’t ever want to be shown up by an opposing player crossing you over. In addition to getting shook on the play, you find yourself firmly planted on the ground or stumbling awkwardly while the crowd ooh’s and ahh’s as your demise.
The other thing you don’t want to experience as an offensive player would be a shot rejection. And no, we’re not talking about a prototypical block here – we’re talking a full on rejection. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Toronto Raptors forward Rudy Gay today who had an unpleasant experience when he attempted to dunk on Denver Nuggets big man Timofey Mosgov.
As Gay broke through the lane, he thought he’d have an easy dunk ahead of him. Even better, with the relatively slow Mosgov rotating, he might even have a ‘poster’ moment.
He got one, but not the kind he was expecting as Mosgov stuffed Gay in his dunk attempt, sending him barreling to the ground as play continued on.
Bruised ego, to say the least.
