Auburn vs. No. 17 Iowa State, game preview

The Auburn Tigers take on the Iowa State Cyclones at James H. Hilton Coliseum in Ames, IA.  The game is on ESPNU at 7 pm ET.  The Tigers are 4-1, and the Cyclones are 5-0.

Iowa State is led by senior forward Melvin Ejim who is averaging 18.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.  Ejim has come back strongly after missing four to six weeks (including the first two games) with a hyperextended left knee.  Senior guard DeAndre Kane is averaging 16.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.  Junior forward Dustin Hogue is a beast in the paint averaging 10.0 points and 8.6 rebounds.  Versatile players have contributed to the exceptional start to the season for the Cyclones.

The Tigers are led by senior guard Chris Denson.  Denson is averaging 20.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.  Junior guard K.T. Harrell is another big time scorer for the Tigers averaging 17.4 points and 4.6 rebounds.  The x-factor for the Tigers is seven foot center Asauhn Dixon-Tatum.  Tatum is averaging 8.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game along with a 64% field goal percentage.  Teams with good centers are a tough challenge.  You can’t teach length!

Iowa State has the edge playing at home, but Auburn has a lot of firepower, and a seven footer on their side.  Expect a close contest on ESPNU at 7 pm ET.
