The Broyles Award is given to the nation’s top assistant coach in the country and is regarded as an extremely prestigious award in college football.  They announced their 5 finalists for this year’s award, which will be handed out on the 10th of this month.

This year’s candidates include:

Rhett Lashlee, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Auburn

Phillip Montgomeryoffensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Baylor

Kurt Roper, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach/assistant head coach Duke

Jeremy Pruitt, defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Florida State

Pat Narduzzi, defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Michigan State

Every candidate is a member of a double digit win team and all of their teams are in contention for their respective conference championships this year. Lashlee and Montgomery had two of the most impressive offenses in the country this year while Pruitt and Narduzzi had dominant defenses.  Roper played a big role in getting Duke to maybe its best football season in the program’s history with a chance to win the ACC Title if they can upset the Seminoles.
