The New York Knicks entered this season with some title hopes and one of the pre-season favorites to challenge the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference, but they have struggled to get anything going and the losses are beginning to pile up.
After dropping their ninth straight game on Sunday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, star forward Carmelo Anthony spoke out to give us an idea of what is wrong with the team.
“I think we’re playing to lose rather than playing to win right now,” Anthony said after the Knicks’ 103-99 loss to New Orleans on Sunday. “When you lose games the way we’ve been losing them at home, on the road, you start thinking a lot. You start playing a little tense, you start playing on your heels.”
The good news for Anthony is that he is set to become a free agent this offseason, so he can get out of New York.
Anthony will be one of the most highly sought after free agents and it is highly unlikely that he will want to remain with the Knicks if they aren’t able to turn things around soon.
