And you thought it was bad with Mark Sanchez behind center.

Appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter Monday morning, insider Adam Schefter suggested that it would ‘not be an upset’ if the New York Jets started David Garrard at quarterback come Week 14.

Per Evan Silva:

"Schefter on #Jets QB situation: “It would not be an upset if they turned to David Garrard this week.”"

Garrard, the former longtime Jacksonville Jaguars signal caller was signed to the Jets in early October but has spent his three month stint on the inactives list since agreeing to terms.

Of course, why the Jets are even considering such a move a bit befuddling considering their placement in the standings.

Granted, Geno Smith has looked nothing short of awful in recent weeks and Matt Simms looks like a backup quarterback on his best day, so the options are relatively limited but Garrard, 35, isn’t likely to be around next season and has no future with the club.

Regardless, it appears to be an option the Jets are seriously considering.

New York will face the Oakland Raiders this coming weekend.
