Finally, after what seemed like a non-stop train of issues, which included losing their main star, Universal Pictures has finally begun work on the film adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey.
The film is based off of the first in a trilogy of books, the first one sharing the film’s name, by bestselling author E.L. James.
Speaking of E.L. James, the author gave fans a small peek into today’s events when she posted a picture to her Instagram of the first slate from the film.
Starring alongside him is Ben and Kate actress Dakota Johnson, the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She plays the young, naïve, college student Anastasia Steele, who after a chance meeting with the young CEO begins a whirlwind ride into a world that she never expected to find herself in.
Also starring in the film is Eloise Mumford as Anastasia’s best friend Kate Kavanagh, Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s well-meaning photographer friend Jose, Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother Carla, Luke Grimes as Christian Grey’s brother Elliot, and Max Martini as Christian’s head of security Jason Taylor.
Originally, Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam was cast in the lead role; however, due to his previous filing obligations, he was forced to back out of the role, hence the recasting of the role.
Originally, the film was set to be released on August 1st of 2014, but after a series of issues, was forced to reschedule.
Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled to be released on February 13, 2015.
